Diligence

I have so much yarn in my office - it's poking out from nooks and crannies. You know, like most knitters. I also have a lot of quilting fabric, clothing fabric and general arts and crafts stuff that is seriously threatening to take over the entire room. So I've been trying to use up what I have and (this is the hard part) not buy more. It's difficult. But then I think about the budget and my resolve comes back a bit. I have no money set aside for yarn or fabric this year and I hope that will help with my clutter problems.

I've been a knitting a lot right now so I thought I'd show off what I've been working on lately.

This is the back of The Alexi Cardigan in Knit Picks Andean Silk Jade. It's not for me, alas. I have one sleeve to finish, do the button bands and collar and it's out the door.

Next up is a toe up purl ridge sock in Knit Picks Sock Garden Hydrangea. It will be great to have such happy looking socks on my feet.

I organized my yarn stash and I have a lot of sock yarn - probably about 10 pairs worth so I look forward to having lots of new socks in the future.

The last project I've been working on for only two days, but I really want it done before late spring. It's the Maltese Shawl from Victorian Lace Today (Ravelry link). I'm very happy with it, and I think it will look very nice with my brown linen sundress that so desperately needs a shawl for cool nights.

So, what are you working on?

Thanks for dropping by my space Lisa. Those cables look gorgeous and I commend you on being able to face 'seperation' after all that work - I'd be hoarding it all for myself (ok maybe just for a few wearings).

I have the same budget for yarn and material this year ($0) - but unfortunately with very little stash to back that up I can guarantee cheating (probably long before the first signs of spring).

All your current knitting projects look delicious. The jade cardigan is gorgeous, the socks FUN, but the shawl so pretty...delicate and a lovely color. Hope you'll post it when you're finished?!

I'm committed to working from my stash, too (of fabric and books to read!). These are difficult times and it's best we all prepare for things to get a little bit worse before we can begin to know security, stability and prosperity. We can do it by learning from each other and doing for each other by sharing our talents and abilities.

I hear you!! I have more yarn than I could probably ever knit in my lifetime. I'm going to try REALLY HARD not to buy any this year . . . well, at least until Rhinebeck. :)

I work at my lys and lots of people are working off their stash and only buying patterns or needles. I love your projects lots of variety depending on how much you want to think.

Hi there
Love the cardi you're making, shame you won't get to keep it. Can't wait to see if finished, I love cabled sweaters (well I love other peoples, I hardly knit them myself!)
:)

I feel the same way. I have way too much yarn. It makes me feel so quilty. I like the challenge to find projects and knit from it:)
